I’m just talking, erm, typing, to nothing, something, the world, maybe some kid in the far reaches of the planet who just got internet, maybe to your grandma. Blogging is strange. What tense do I use? Do I use the first or third person? Do I reference myself, or just keep it factual and all just general? Who am I speaking to?
One of the most important and basic things I learned from writing and public speaking is that knowing who your audience is, and what they bring to the conversation, is key. Knowing the audience’s background so as not to speak above or below them helps to keep the conversation on a level field. But with blogging, my audience is literally everyone. From all backgrounds, knowing me in some form or another, or maybe not knowing me at all except for the pixels I’ve places on their screen.
I’m still working on figuring this out, as with many other things on this “project.” Simply placing my experiences down for the world to see seems like a good first step, but what’s next? I can talk about my day to day activities, sometimes they’re awesome, most of the time they’re not. After all, I’m just another person, trying to figure out my place in this crazy world of ours. Typing up my daily activities for the world to see just feels so…strange.
So, to those following and reading my rants, looking at the photos, and keeping up to date with my wanderings, thank you. Knowing that there are people out there that care enough about my life to follow it, and take time out of their life, to learn about mine, is quite amazing. I hope that I can continue to entertain you, and keep you interested enough to keep coming back.
